Deepwater data from the US Gulf

More seismic data covering the US Gulf of Mexico is being made available to the exploration industry with the completion of a wide azimuth survey.

Covering the western Gulf of Mexico including deepwater areas across the Alaminos Canyon and Garden Banks and encompassing over 600 licence blocks the new Three Corners Wide Azimuth Survey has been completed by CGGVeritas and processed data is now available.

Release of the data is time to coincide with the new OCS Western Gulf of Mexico Lease sale 218 – the first lease sale for over a year.

“The images of this advanced wide-azimuth survey provide a step-change in the clarity and detail of the historically difficult-to-image geology of the Alaminos Canyon area,” claims Luc Schlumberger, executive vied president of multi-client and new ventures for the company.

Pre-stack depth migrated (PSDM) VTI RTM, Controlled Beam and Kirchhoff volumes are available from the processed data.
