New vessels for Subsea 7

Two new vessels have joined Subsea 7's offshore construction fleet.

Seven Inagha is a new jackup accommodation and crane barge and the unit has already been deployed to support a development on the Oso field offshore Nigeria.

The Inagha features two 295 tonne cranes, and accommodation for up to 150 personnel and it is designed to provide flexible support for offshore hook-up operations.

Last week Subsea 7 also celebrated completion of its new flagship Seven Borealis, in Schiedam near Rotterdam.

Borealis is a new pipelay and heavy-lift vessel designed for ultra-deep and deepwater projects, while maximising productivity and efficiency. Constructed mainly in China, the ship has been outfitted in Singapore, and was officially named there in January.

Currently the ship is undergoing final installation of J-lay and S-lay pipelay equipment in The Netherlands.

Once completed – which is expected in the second half this year, the ship is due to transit to West Africa to commence installation work on Total E&P Angola's CLOV project, in the northern part of Angola deepwater block 17, to tap the Cravo, Lirio, Orquidea and Violeta fields, which have proved and probable reserves of 500 million barrels of oil. The Clov project is one of the largest ever awarded to Subsea 7.
