North Sea success for chemical detector
A UK firm has landed a major supply deal after trialling its production with a North Sea operator.
Aberdeen-based Lux Assure which specialises in chemical monitoring has landed a deal for the use of it Ommica detection kits which determine the levels of methanol or mono ethylene glycol in oil and gas streams on offshore platforms.
Significantly the deal comes just two years after the company first began to focus on opportunities in the oil and gas sector.
Offshore trials of the technology were funded by a North Sea operator which needed a quick and simple method to determine MEG levels. Support for the project was also provided by the Scottish government through its SMART Scotland programme.
“Commercialisation work on our other technologies is continuing and we intend to launch our next product ...for the large corrosion monitoring market soon,” said Emma Perfect, the company's managing director.
Other markets for the product have also been found in Africa, Australia and Europe.
