Seadrill sees West Capricorn and West Leo named at Jurong
Seardrill's two latest drilling units have been named at a ceremony at Sembcorp Marine's Jurong Shipyard.
Newbuild semi-submersibles West Capricorn and West Leo were officially christened on Saturday 5 November at the Singapore shipyard.
Owner Seadrill has already secured work for the West Capricorn which is due for delivery next month and is to be deployed on a five-year contact in the US Gulf of Mexico from next May, joining its sister unit West Sirius. The West Capricorn has been built to a sixth generation Friede and Goldman ExD Millennium Class rig design.
West Leo is headed for West Africa where it is due to drill offshore Ghana for operator Tullow Oil commencing mid-April nex year 2012 under a one-year drilling contract. West Leo is the second Moss Maritime CS50 MK II harsh-environment designed rig to be built from a six-column bare-deck hull by Jurong for Seadrill after the West Pegasus which was delivered in March this year and which is now working for Pemex in the US Gulf of Mexico.
