After a naming ceremony in Stavanger Subsea 7 is now able to offer a new dive support vessel to the international energy market after the new unit was completed at Havyard Shipping.

Seven Havila is heading for the Danish sector of the North Sea to start work later this summer once final commissioning of diving equipment has been completed, a spokeswoman for Subsea 7 indicated.

Subsea 7's new ship was christened at ceremony after being designed by Havyard Design and Engineering, and it was built by Havyard Ship Technology – previously known as Havyard Leirvik,  in Stavanger, and it continues a fleet renewal programme, said Stuart Fitzgerald, vice president for Subsea 7 in Norway.

“The addition of Seven Havila continues our fleet rejuvenation programme and adds an industry-leading asset to our operations in Northern Europe,” Fitzgerald declared.

Fitted with a 250-tonne heave compensated offshore crane and with DP III dynamic positioning, Severn Havila is capable of operating with up to 24 divers and it will be owned through a joint venture between Subsea 7 and Havyard Shipping.
