Technip tapped for topsides on Ichthys FPSO

South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine has selected Technip for a service contract on the~FPSO which will serve Western Australia's huge US $34 billion Ichthys LNG gas field development in the Browse Basin.

Technip has been selected to provide engineering, and procurement assistance services to Daewoo for the construction of topsides on the Ichthys FPSO which is being built to store up to 1.2 million barrels of condensate.

Engineering will be executed by Technip from its base in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Topsides on the floating production ship are to be designed for preliminary processing of up to 100,000 b/d of condensate

Gas from the Ichthys field will undergo preliminary processing to remove water and condensate which will then be pumped to the FPSO.

Gas will be exported via an 889 kilometre (555 mile) pipeline to Darwin in Australia's Northern Territory, to an onshore LNG processing plant which is expected to produce up to 8.4 million tonnes of LNG and another 1.6 million tonnes of Liquefied Petroleum Gas per annum.

Ichthys which is due onstream in 2016, is operated by Inpex partnered by Total and the final investment decision for the project was made at the start of this year.
