Technip wins Wheatstone follow-on
Technip has bagged a deal to design a new gas processing platform offshore Australia in a deal with South Korea's Daewoo.
Through its regional subsidiary Technip Oceania, Technip has been awarded a €90 million (AUS $110 m) deal by Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering for the Chevron-operated Wheatstone gas project on Australia's North West Shelf to tap shallow water fields in the WA-17-R and WA-253-P licence areas.
As part of the deal Technip will provide detailed design for the Wheatstone gas platform which is to be installed 200 kilometres (125 miles) offshore Western Australia. The project layout involves subsea gas gathering systems tied into the gas processing hub where gas and condensate will be treated before being exported to an onshore gas plant at Ashburton North, 12 km (7.5 miles) west of the town of Onslow on the Pilbara coast in Western Australia.
Previously Technip carried out front end engineering and design for the project in 2009 and completion of the detailed design is due in the second half this year.
