For vår kunde A/S Norske Shell søker vi Snr Materials & Corrosion Engineer for oppdrag i Stavanger.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The required position is that of Senior Materials and Corrosion Engineer to work in a multidisciplinary team with responsibility for materials and corrosion support to AS Norske Shell projects. In addition to expertise in project engineering activities, the applicant should have a broad overview of the materials and corrosion discipline to enable him or her to provide advice across the discipline spectrum. He or she will provide expertise in the areas of materials selection and performance, welding, coatings, cathodic protection and corrosion monitoring, together with the provision of timely advice on associated matters of specification, design, procurement, execution, and installation.
DIMENSIONS: The environment offers the particular challenge for the incumbent to work both independently and as a member of multidiscipline teams where he or she can best contribute to the business. The environment demands considerable customer and subcontractor focus and an innovative approach. A key challenge will be to earn the respect from his and her peers and to be accepted as a discipline expert. The successful applicant will also be confident enough to make informed judgments in the full knowledge that these will subject to challenge. The role will also require the applicant to work closely alongside a number of EPCm contractors to ensure fit for purpose material selection and high quality deliverables in all phases of projects from appraisal to execution in the topsides and subsea arena. The position is primarily based in Stavanger but will require the applicant to travel regularly inside and outside of Norway to follow up with various EPCm contractors and vendor fabrication sites
ORGANISATION: The position is part of the AS Norske Shell Projects and Technology, materials, corrosion and welding team supporting Ormen Lange, Linnorm and Draugen projects both topsides and subsea. The team currently comprises of 3-4 engineers located in Stavanger with support from the wider Shell Group network of materials engineers
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: The primary role for this position is to support engineering projects related to Nyhamna expansion, Draugen infill and Linnorm. The position will require review of work carried out by external engineering consultants and the incumbent will be expected to seek and develop opportunities to proactively contribute to savings for CAPEX and OPEX with specific emphasis on the materials and corrosion discipline. The applicant will be responsible for ensuring that the materials design integrity of the assets is according to Norwegian, International and Shell standards and that the Shell Discipline Controls and Assurance Framework is adhered to.
SPECIAL CHALLENGES: The role will require interfacing with a number of EPCM contractors for the various projects in different locations
EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES and SKILLS: A degree in metallurgy, material science, chemical engineering or related discipline. Significant and relevant experience in offshore oil and gas production. Experience of both project and operational phases would be an advantage. It is envisaged that the candidate will be able to demonstrate practical application of expertise complemented by a sound education in materials, or related subject and corrosion. He or she should also have a good knowledge of welding. Equally important will be a willingness to share ideas and knowledge and the pride and enthusiasm he or she brings to the position. The incumbent should be an enthusiastic self-starter who can demonstrate a record of achievement, and good interpersonal and communication skills.
NOTE: Possibility of extension. Successful candidate required to travel regularly inside and outside of Norway.
