First oil has been received on board the latest North Sea FPSO BW Athena the ship owner reported today.

The BW Athena, owned by Norway’s BW Offshore group, hast just landed first oil from the UK Athena field, after final acceptance testing was completing and the firm contract period commenced, the Oslo-listed floating production operator said today.

Field operator Ithaca Energy and its partners including Dyas UK, EWE Energies, and Zeus Petroleum, has a three-year firm contract for the use of the BW Athena FPSO, and holds options for a further five years.
