London-listed Valiant Petroleum has boosted its boardroom expertise with the appointment of two former BP executives.

Valiant has announced the appointment of Stephen Horton, a former worldwide director of drilling at BP, and Dr Philip Vingoe, a geophysicist, who worked for BP for 20 years.

Horton, who has extensive experiences in the UK North Sea E&P sector, is currently on the board of another Alternative Investment Market company listed in London, Leni Oil and Gas. He was a co-founder of Silverstone Energy,  and is a technical adviser to a mining company.

Dr Vingoe has worked for Novus Petroleum, Sasol Petroleum, and was a co-founder of Pan-Petroleum which merged with Norse Energy do Brasil to become Panoro Energy, of which he is now chairman, and he sits on the board of Petro Matad. Previously he was a director of Pan-Ocean Energy before it was sold to Addax in 2006.

“Both Steve and Phil bring substantial industry and  board level experience,” noted Valiant chairman Kevin Lyon. “Valiant’s board will benefit from their combined technical expertise and  extensive experience in the independent E&P space,” Lyon stated today.

Valiant’s assets cover the Barents Sea, the Faroe Islands, the Central North Seamid-Norwegian Sea and Northern North Sea.
